Outplacement
Services – The Benefits.
It is difficult to be truly
objective when we think about
ourselves. Enlisting the help
of partners and spouses, friends
and colleagues may help once
they are prepared to challenge
your assumptions and provide
objective observations.
An alternative is to speak
with a stranger who will be
truly objective and that is
what Outplacement will give
you. A trained outplacement
officer / counsellor will
assist you in the completion
of your self-appraisal and
will provide you with questionnaires
and tests to challenge you
and your personal views.
Unfortunately Outplacement
services are expensive so
if you do not wish to pay
for the entire service you
may use affordable related
services such as Resume Writing
Services and Career Counsellors.
Career Counsellors will provide
you with assistance as you
consider the options available
to you, providing guidance
on the most appropriate direction
for you to take.
Your counsellor will look
at what you do best; nine
times out of ten you will
find that these activities
are what you enjoy most in
your job. Following this they
will establish the type of
individual you are, i.e. more
creative than practical?
To get a complete picture
they will take into consideration
your attitudes towards your
manger, colleagues, organization,
and career prospects. In turn
they will determine your achievements
thus far in your career both
in your current and previous
roles. Various tests will
be performed to test your
reasoning ability, attention
to detail and your potential
to develop new skills.
A common approach is to perform
a personality profile, which
will assess how you react
to different situations and
how you deal with problems
or obstacles. These psychometric
evaluations determine your
characteristics and personality,
providing information as to
whether you are a worrier
or not, extrovert or introvert,
independent or conformist,
reliant on facts or on your
instincts.
The information derived from
these tests is beneficial
in determining what path you
wish to follow and will help
you to have a better understanding
of your personal job preferences.
