Aptitude tests
Aptitude tests are designed
to test your verbal, numerical
and diagrammatic reasoning
skills. This test gives an
employer an insight into your
decision-making capabilities
in addition to your sense
of logic and balance. There
are several definitions of
aptitude tests and you may
also know them by the terms
cognitive or ability testing.
Testing will vary from organization
to organization as generally
tests are designed to meet
the specific needs of the
hiring company. Tests may
take from 30 minutes to 60
minutes depending on position
type and business needs. There
is the additional pressure
on each candidate by the introduction
of a time constraint, which
will also test how you handle
pressure situations. An independent
group performs the scoring
against a set industry standard.
It is important to score a
minimum of 66% to pass these
tests so concentration is
the key. As in all testing
there are several ‘easy’
questions at the beginning
of the test, which will help
you to overcome your nerves.
